Adams hasn’t altered his formula one iota since “Straight From the Heart” 25 years ago. This self-funded effort - a Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club exclusive - is strictly paint-by-numbers soft rock. Even the song titles are recycled: “Broken Wings” (not the Mr. Mister song), “Something to Believe In” (not the Poison hit), “She’s Got a Way” (not the Billy Joel song) and “Walk on By” (not the Bacharach-David tune). The best thing to download, “Mysterious Ways” - hey, wasn’t that a U2 song title? - was recorded in a Dublin hotel room; unfortunately pomposity was added in the studio.
